In addition to population growth, the increasing pressure of climate change is felt most acutely on water resources. In particular, the geographical region that includes Turkey is among the countries that will be most affected by these pressures on water resources. We are losing our water day by day due to worsening meteorological droughts and human-induced quality degradation. Securing our water for the future is of vital importance. Managing Turkey's water resources to ensure "water security" depends on training competent "Hydrogeological Engineers." The primary mission of the Hacettepe University Hydrogeological Engineering Program is to raise young engineers who will "play a key role in shaping today and the future."

Hydrogeological Engineers graduate equipped with the knowledge to define the occurrence, movement, and responses of water resources in general, and groundwaters in particular, to various natural and artificial impacts, as well as to predict the behavior of water resource systems in terms of quantity and quality against these impacts. This goal is largely achieved through computer model-based education.

Our graduates serve across diverse sectors as engineers equipped for one of the most promising professions of the future, seeking solutions to various engineering challenges ranging from water scarcity or excess, drinking and domestic water supply, and dewatering in engineering structures and excavation areas, to meeting agricultural irrigation needs and ensuring ecosystem sustainability.

The escalating challenges regarding water resources have made Hydrogeological Engineering one of the most sought-after professions today and in the future, both in our country and globally.
